30th Annual Tofte Trek

 The Sugarbush Trail Association is pleased to present the 30th Annual Tofte Trek 10K Wilderness Run/Walk on July 4, 2009. Pre-registration is now open at www.toftetrek.com Pre-registration fee is $20.

Same-day registration will be held at the Birch Grove Community Center in Tofte starting at 7:45 a.m. until 9:00 a.m. Race-day registration fee is $25.

Kids races start at 9:00 a.m. and are open to anyone 4 years old and older. No registration fee is required for the kids with prize ribbons for all. The race/walk is open to all abilities.

Jan Horak, an avid outdoorsman, cross-country skier and fitness enthusiast from Tofte was the founder of the Tofte Trek 30 years ago and continued to organize the event for 25 years.

The 10K wilderness run/walk winds its way through frequently muddy trails in the Superior National Forest, following cross-country ski trails, snowmobile trails and Superior Hiking Trail.

Age group awards will be provided along with a commemorative T-shirt to the first 200 registrants.

Proceeds will be donated to Cook County non-profit organizations.

Food, beverages and games for all will be available near the Tofte Fire Hall.
