JOB TITLE:     ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN

 

FUNCTION:  Performs skilled engineering and technical work for the Highway Department with emphasis on highway design and construction observation

 

JOB DUTIES:  Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  Designs highway and bridge improvements to determine the type and amount of work needed, using standards, drawings, calculations, graphs, calculators, computers, and other tools.  Conducts preliminary field engineering and other surveys.  Locates physical restraints and identifies soils and drainage patterns. Ensures compliance with requirements for soils, aggregate, bituminous and concrete projects.  Supervises and directs the work of field crews and engineering aides. Monitors and inspects the progress and construction methods of road and bridge projects.  Determines and prepares plans, legal descriptions, and quantities of right-of-way needed for construction projects. Attends preconstruction conferences.  Coordinates activities, conducts meetings, and resolves problems between contractors, landowners, survey crews, utilities or other agencies. Prepares various reports, payment vouchers, cost estimates, contract proposals and specifications for construction projects.  Prepares yearly bridge inventory.

Cook County Hwy Maintenance Worker II

                                  COOK COUNTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

 

TITLE:           MAINTENANCE WORKER II

 

FUNCTION:  Maintains and constructs county roads by operating various pieces of medium equipment, primarily tandem dump truck, under the direction of the Cook County Engineer and Maintenance Supervisor.

 

DUTIES:  Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following: Plows snow and sands roadways using a tandem axle truck equipped with front plow, wing, sander, and/or underbody blade.  Thaws frozen culverts.  Hauls gravel.  Prepares salt-sand mix.  Patches holes in bituminous.  Makes corrections to road subgrades.  Performs cracksealing procedures. Installs culverts. Cleans ditches and culvert ends.  Performs road shouldering operations.  Installs traffic control devices. Maintains assigned equipment, as well as shop and work areas.  Assists mechanic as directed.  Works out-of-class operating heavy equipment, if assigned.  Performs other related duties as assigned.

We are currently looking for a highly motivated educator who believes all children can achieve targeted growth goals regardless of race or economic status. The position is a full-time, long-term substitute position beginning April 6, 2015 through the end of the 2015-16 school year. Course load: 2 sections of 9th grade Physical Science, 2 sections of Chemistry, 1 section of AP Chemistry, duty period and a prep. The 2015-16 school year will include Physics instead of Chemistry.

POSITION: Secondary Physical Science Teacher (Chemistry, Physics and Physical Science)

JOB REQUIREMENTS: 

  • Minnesota 9-12 Physical Science license.
  • Experience with Native American students preferred.
  • Multiple areas of licensure preferred.
  • Experience with students from low-income families preferred.
  • Demonstrated success as a classroom teacher.
  • Sensitivity to family strengths and individual parenting styles.
  • Experience with MAP testing preferred.
  • Understanding and demonstrated success in development and implementation of differentiated instruction.
  • Positive and creative personality.
  • Eager to serve in a progressive district with supportive administration and school board.
