Job Overview:
This key position will generate lodging and food & beverage revenue through group business.

Job Responsibilities:
-- Aggressively solicit new and existing accounts to meet/exceed revenue goals.

-- Utilize prospecting, telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication to gain new and existing accounts.

-- Preparation and presentation of business proposals, presentations and contracts which meet clients' needs and expectations and provide alternatives.

-- Conduct personalized sales campaigns to promote the resorts, programs, packages and special promotions.

-- Solicit and follow up on generated leads.

-- Actively participate in key trade and business associations to generate business leads and increase company visibility.

-- Participate in sales meetings, sales strategy meetings, training and other sales related meetings.

-- Attend tradeshows and industry meetings.

Required Qualifications:
-- Minimum 5 years of current and relevant hospitality sales experience.
-- Must possess strong sales and negotiation skills. 
-- Excellent communication skills. 
-- Skilled at establishing effective relationships with customers and internal partners. 
-- Requires effective reading, writing and oral comprehension.
-- Service oriented.

Great Job Openings with the City of Grand Marais' Recreation Area

The City of Grand Marais’ Recreation Area is seeking help:

Seasonal Park Office Clerk

Responsibilities include public relations, computerized registrations and reservations, administrative work, light area upkeep and cleaning, and working without direct supervision.  Work schedule includes evenings and weekends; part-time up to 30 hrs/week.

Seasonal Washroom Custodian

Responsibilities include:  cleaning and maintaining park wash rooms on a daily basis 4-5 hours per day; part-time up to 30 hrs/week.

Seasonal Park Maintenance Worker

Responsible for maintenance, upkeep, and cleaning of facilities and grounds, camper and boater support, and public relations. Work schedule includes evenings and weekends; up to 40 hrs/week.

Seasonal positions run May through October.

Park Facilities Manager

40 hours/week, Full-time/Year Round

 Minimum Requirements:

Minimum requirements include: Ability to perform a variety of skilled maintenance activities, ability to operate park maintenance equipment, High School Diploma and three (3) years experience in maintenance or construction trades with some supervisory experience.  Must possess a valid Minnesota Class D driver's license.

Successful candidate will have mechanic and snow plowing experience as well as a commercial driver’s license or ability/willingness to obtain.

 

Maintenance duties and responsibilities (approximately 85% of position) to be compensated at maintenance worker rate ($14.62/hr):

  • Keep building and premises, including sidewalks and play areas, neat and clean at all times.
  • Shovel or sand walks, parking areas and steps.
  • Sweep and /or vacuum classrooms daily and dust furniture.
  • Clean corridors after school each day.
  • Keep the grounds free from rubbish.
  • Perform such yard keeping chores as grass cutting, tree trimming, and the like as necessary to maintain the school grounds in a safe and attractive condition.
  • Keep all floors in a clean and attractive condition and in a good state of preservation.
  • Make minor building and equipment repairs as trained.
  • Report immediately any damage to school property, major repairs necessary and any unsafe conditions.
  • Assume responsibility for the opening and closing of the building each school day, and for determining before leaving that all doors and windows are secured and all lights are turned off, with the exception of those left on for safety reasons. 
  • Keep an inventory of supplies and equipment, and notify transportation/facilities specialist when supplies are running low.
  • Move furniture or equipment within buildings as required for various activities.
  • Performs emergency services.
  • Performs other related custodial/maintenance duties.

Wilderness Canoe Base - Camp Manager Position Open

Organizational Overview

Wilderness Canoe Base is one of the four camps of the Lake Wapogasset Lutheran Bible Camp ministry. Wilderness serves all ages, primarily middle and high school youth, and families in the summer, and all ages in our year-round retreat season. Located on Seagull Lake, at the end of the Gunflint Trail, campers paddle from our beach, right into the BWCA. With a wide variety of programming, WCB maintains a commitment to faith formation through a Lutheran lens, environmental education, youth empowerment and ministry - encompassed by its mission statement: “Nurturing at Christ-Centered Identity through Wilderness Experience.” 

Position Overview

The Wilderness Canoe Base Camp Manager (CM) lives on-site year round, to manage 45-acre facilities and provide staff leadership throughout the vibrant summer camp season, as well as Fall, Winter and Spring retreat seasons. Supervised by the Site Director, the CM will be in charge of maintenance and care of camp facilities, grounds, vehicles, watercraft, camping equipment, and other assets. Under Site Director, assists in supervision of summer staff (30+ people), particularly facilities related positions and volunteers. During retreat season, CM becomes overall on-site supervisor, in charge of retreat season staff (1-3 people). Programmatic duties include assisting and coordinating religious programming, outdoor recreation and environmental education activities for retreat groups, and involvement throughout summer. Due to the variance of pace throughout the year, additional duties during retreat season include, but are not limited to; cooking, food ordering and planning, guiding excursions, cleaning, snow plowing and assisting Site Director in budget management, site reports and other responsibilities to promote Wilderness’s mission.

JOB TITLE:     ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN   

 

FUNCTION:  Performs skilled engineering and technical work for the Highway Department with emphasis on highway design and construction

 

JOB DUTIES:  Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following:  Designs highway and bridge improvements to determine the type and amount of work needed, using standards, drawings, calculations, graphs, calculators, computers, and other tools.  Conducts preliminary field engineering and other surveys.  Locates physical restraints, identifies soils and drainage patterns. Ensures compliance with requirements for soils, aggregate, bituminous and concrete projects.  Supervises and directs the work of field crews and engineering aides. Monitors and inspects the progress and construction methods of road and bridge projects.  Determines and prepares plans, legal descriptions, and quantities of right-of-way needed for construction projects. Attends preconstruction conferences.  Coordinates activities, conducts meetings, and resolves problems between contractors, landowners, survey crews, utilities or other agencies. Prepares various reports, payment vouchers, cost estimates, contract proposals and specifications for construction projects.  Prepares yearly bridge inventory.
