Food & Beverage Manager

Caribou Highlands Lodge in Lutsen, MN is looking for an experienced and qualified Food & Beverage Manager to oversee and coordinate the planning, organizing, training and leadership necessary to achieve stated objectives in sales, costs, employee retention, guest service and satisfaction, food quality, cleanliness and sanitation.

Some duties and responsibilities include:
-- Achieving company objectives in sales, service, quality, appearance of facility and sanitation and cleanliness through training of employees and creating a positive, productive working environment.
-- Control cash and other receipts by adhering to cash handling and reconciliation procedures in accordance with restaurant policies and procedures.
-- Fully understand and comply with all federal, state, county and municipal regulations that pertain to health, safety and labor requirements of the restaurant, employees and guests.

-- Have knowledge of service and food and beverage, generally involving at least 3-5 years of restaurant management and/or front-of-the-house operations positions.
-- Have the advanced knowledge of the principles and practices within the food and beverage profession including the knowledge required for management of people and complex problems.
-- A strong grasp of labor, liquor, food costs and P&L responsibility

Activities Director position at Lutsen Resort

Activities & Recreation Director Job Description

Lutsen Resort offers complimentary recreational activities for guests staying at the resort.  In the summer month these include high quality and safely guided hikes, naturalist programs, kid’s activities, shuttle service to trailheads, fly fishing instruction, lobby activities, yoga, and guided sea kayaking tours and instruction. In the winter months this include Cross Country ski instruction, guided snowshoe tour, ski shuttle service and kid’s activities.  The programs serve an audience of families, children and adults vacationing here at Lutsen Resort.  Activities and Recreation Director works an average of 45-50 hours per week from early June through Labor Day and 40-45 hours from September through May.


Activities Director Job Responsibilities

  • Lead and/or help teach and prepare for a variety of programs including guided hikes, naturalist programs, kids programs, lobby activities, fly fishing, cross country skiing, snowshoeing
  • Lead Guide for Lake Superior sea kayaking and inland lake family kayaking tours
  • Manage activities desk in main lodge – this includes providing resort guests information on area activities, current trail conditions, local businesses, and finding answers for guest’s questions.
  • Provide safe activities.
  • Drive shuttles for guests to nearby trailheads and to the ski hill in the winter.
  • Manage equipment inventory and maintenance.
  • Manage program and staff development.
  • Report program statistics.
  • Schedule both staff and activity calendar.
  • Communicate with guests and vendors via email and phone
  • Interview and hire summer staff.

Cleaning/ maintenance person wanted

Self motivated / detail oriented person wanted to clean the Tavern in off hours. This requires maintenance skills to help maintain health of equipment. Recycling, Shoveling in winter and window cleaning in summers. Fixing the stuff that breaks. Its kind of an all around job to fill Toms spot.
