Assistant Activities & Recreation Director

The ideal candidate is an outdoor education professional with experience providing high quality and safe educational and recreational programs in a variety of settings.

The assistant director will be responsible for conducting and developing programs, training and supervising staff, acting as “second in charge”, maintaining equipment and overseeing the guest activities desk in the lobby.       

The position interacts with a varied population including young children, teens, adults of all ages and international travelers.   Year-round activities reflect the seasonal nature of the area.   Experience in leading both winter and summer activities such as sea kayaking, fly fishing, children’s programs, yoga, crafts, naturalist programs, cross country skiing and snowshoeing is preferred.

Strong depth in sea kayaking experience and/or certification is highly desirable.

The position is 40 hours a week with a benefit plan and paid vacation.

(The position drops to 32 hours a week during November and April and is still considered full time hours.)

Is responsible for managing state tax forfeit land trust and its forest resources for the economic, environmental, and social benefit of the County and its long term sustainability, which includes all land transactions of tax forfeited properties such as sales, leases and exchanges with the federal and state agencies, as well as with private parties, and has fiduciary responsibility as set forth by statute to the tax forfeit land trust.  As Parks and Trails Director, the position is responsible for the implementation and monitoring of the county comprehensive trails plan and for the maintenance of the county’s recreational properties, and for the coordination of the aquatic invasive species program and contracts.
