Volunteers needed for Radio Waves Music Fest, Sept 9-11

WTIP’s Radio Waves Music Festival is coming right up, September 9-11.  We still have a number of volunteer opportunities available for people of all ages and abilities, who enjoy supporting and celebrating live music.  Just a couple of hours of your time is so appreciated!

Specifically, we’re looking for people to help…

  • Before the event: help with set up on Thursday, 9/8 or Friday, 9/9
  • During the event (Friday, 9/9; Saturday, 9/10 or Sunday, 9/11):
    • Help at the ticket/information booth
    • Help at the Kids Tent
  • After the event: help tear down on Sunday evening, 9/11 or Monday morning, 9/12

Laundry

Lutsen Resort on Lake Superior is seeking a full-time, year-round laundry staff. The primary function of this position is to make sure all of the housekeeping and dining room laundry are cleaned in a timely manner. The laundry staff is accountable for effective and efficient use of laundry chemicals and machinery, maintaining laundry cleanliness standards and monitoring laundry needs. Duties include doing laundry for resort and restaurant, shared between multiple laundry locations. Should be able to prioritize, work independently and enjoy variety in their day. No formal experience required, but 6 months of previous laundry work preferred. Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 100 pounds. Job Opportunity - Cook County Wetland/Land Use Sepcialist

                                  COOK COUNTY EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY

 

TITLE:  WETLANDS/LAND USE SPECIALIST

 

FUNCTION:   Provides professional technical planning assistance to the Cook County Land Services Director in administering land use programs.

 

DUTIES:   Typical duties include, but are not limited to, the following: 

 

Administers Land Services land use permitting. Administers the Minnesota Wetland Conservation Act.  Inspects sites and septic systems to ensure all ordinances and codes are being followed.  Gathers field data to be used for Zoning determinations.  Provides zoning information and makes zoning determinations.

 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:  Bachelor’s degree in Land Use Planning, Physical Sciences or closely related field and/or Prior education/experience related to county planning/zoning activities. Possession of a valid driver’s license.  Physical ability to conduct inspections in remote, undeveloped areas as well as on construction sites.  Ability to interpret and explain complex rules and regulations.  Ability to maintain positive relationships with co-workers and the general public.  Good verbal and written communications skills, including report-writing.  General computer skills to include word processing and spreadsheets.

 

Additional qualifications desired:  Certification in septic system inspection, wetland delineation, and MPCA erosion control.  Experience working with boards and commissions.

Dishwasher-we are looking for part time OR full time dishwashers.  We offer a fun work environment and steady employment. We can be flexible if you are a student, parent, etc!!

Cook/Chef- We are looking for a full time chef/cook working both day and evening hours. Primarily a line cook with opportunities for creativity doing homemade specials, soups and various custom group dinners. Family restaurant with pub open 7 days a week but we close at 9-10 pm on weekends and at 8-9 pm on weekdays depending on season. 
 

Server- Do you enjoy people?  The server positions that are open are for individuals who like customer service and put "service" to others as a priority.  We will train if you have no experience serving, but good references are a must.  We have morning and evening positions open.  We are looking for year round help.

Housekeeper- Housekeeping requires attention to detail, pride in the daily work output of providing our guests with the best in North Shore lodging. Includes cleaning rooms, making beds, cleaning bathrooms (we use bleach and simple green as our main chemicals), and handling guest needs during their stay. This position takes work direction from our Head Housekeeper. Hours are 9am until finished (usually 2-3pm) typically 4-6 days per week. If person has other abilities we may be able to give you more hours such as in helping with outdoor chores or restaurant work. It's all up to you and your ability/desire. We can accomodate those looking for full time or part time hours.
