Events and Meetings
Good Morning Folks,
I will not be in again this morning. I made the decision after waking up still recouping from last weeks
ordeal of dental issues and responding poorly to the medications. I was prepared and happy to be in
Grand Marais last night but this morning is looking different in terms of feeling well enough.
I apologize for the last minute email.
I am heading to California this monday so next Community Acupuncture in Grand Marais will be
November 21st. That is a long span between the last Community Acupuncture opportunity. As the colder
winter months approach, I will be in Grand Marais with some spotty consistency. I plan to be there most of
December and less in Jan and Feb. Then back to the regular schedule in early spring. I will be opening up
more opportunities with options for private sessions with me. I will be offering insurance provider option.
Insurance carriers offer coverage for private sessions but not community style acupuncture so my plan is
to offer both in Grand Marais starting in the early spring.
Enjoy you day,

Hunger remains a problem in Cook County. This year, the Cook County Food Shelf saw a significant increase in clients. With one in ten Cook County residents struggling with hunger, other community hunger organizations also continue to find their services in high demand.
“People are facing hunger in Cook County for lots of reasons,” Alison McIntyre of Cook County Public Health and Human Services told WTIP this September. “There’s a high cost of living; low wages. People are having to make hard decisions about what their money is going to go towards each month.”
The annual Empty Bowls fundraiser event strives to bring awareness to the pervasiveness of hunger in Cook County while actively working to solve this community problem. Empty Bowls 2015 features a simple soup dinner with soup and bread provided by local restaurants and a beautiful array of handcrafted bowls made at the Grand Marais Art Colony by community members and potters. A silent auction offers a large selection of gift certificates perfect for holiday, wedding or birthday gifts. The bake sale provides sweet treats to enjoy at the event or take home.
Proceeds from Empty Bowls battle hunger in Cook County by funding hunger programs in Cook County!

The colors are changing, the days are getting shorter…why not take advantage of the start of the slower season and experience craft at North House. Join one of our skilled interns every Thursday evening starting October 22th for a variety of different craft opportunities. No registration required, just drop in to learn something new. Free. 7-9pm
Got a hole in your jacket or a leaky tent? Instead of putting it curbside or in the trash, come revive it at North House Folk School's Mend-It gathering. We'll look at samples of repaired fabrics and discuss the rising "slow clothes movement" then launch into sharing technical knowledge on how to fix an old pair of shoes or replace a broken zipper. A variety of tools and supplies will be available, and feel free to bring your own.
