Moving Matters Kick-Off Tomorrow Moved to the Community Center Arena
Join us for the Moving Matters Kick-Off on Thursday, September 19th at the Community Center Arena (rain location), 10 am to 6 pm. Come learn more about this new county-wide project and share your experiences of walking and biking our roads and streets in Cook County. Featuring an active living talk by Jim Oberstar, community bike/walk tours, bouncy house, “Gaga” ball, blender bike smoothies, and more!
10:00-11:30 Fun for Young Children and Families: Bouncy House, Story Time, and Zumba for Young Children
12:00-12:30 Welcome Music: Cook County High School Band
12:30-1:30 Jim Oberstar: “Active Living As You Age”
1:30-2:30 Bike/Walk Tours: Bring your bike or walking shoes and rain gear! Ongoing on the Half Hour.
3:30-4:30 After School Fun: Gaga ball (hit at Fish Pic), Blender Bike, and more!
4:30-6:00 Food and Music: The Stonebridge Singers Drum Group and Food Fundraiser: Come support local Girl Scouts Troop 4077.
Moving Matters is a new county-wide project through the Sawtooth Mountain Clinic that is working to create safe and accessible walking and biking routes for all people.

Reserve your spot now to golf in the 18th Annual North Shore Health Care Golf Scramble – September 29th beginning at 10:00 a.m. at Superior National at Lutsen. You can register as a team or as a single golfer and we will place you in a group. This annual fundraiser has always been the North Shore Health Care Foundation’s primary source of funding for initiatives supporting our mission to “benefit health care for all who live, work, and visit in Cook County.” To date these grants have totaled over $500,000 and include our programs such as Care Partners of Cook County and the Oral Health Task Force for children. Please be a part of this important effort!

Michaela Peterson , a 2013 Cook County High School graduate, will have an information table in the Park with details on United Planet and her upcoming nine-month service trip to Uganda, Africa. Help her achieve her goal to make a difference in the world!
7:30 pm: Parade line up at Senior Center/Municipal parking lot - All are welcome to join in, it's fun!
8:00 pm Parade on Wisconsin St. to 1st Ave. - 2 loops!
8:00 - 10:00 pm Band Mysterious Ways plays in Harbor Park
10:00 pm Fireworks over the Harbor sponsored by the Grand Marais Lions Club and generous community contributions

ONE Week to the parade with the theme Light Up the Night.
Get busy decorating wagons, bicycles, tricycles, pets, trailers, vehicles, atv's, scooters or yourselves!
Get your wrapped candy or throws lined up for the spectators!
Cash prizes will be awarded for Most Patriotic, Best Theme presentation and Cutest Kids.
Any one can join in, we do two loops of the route. We line up starting at 7:30 pm to get your entry information in the Senior Center/Municipal parking lot. The parade starts promptly at 8 pm: Broadway to Wisconsin St. turns onto 1st Ave and around again and we're still done by 8:15 pm!
Enjoy the music in Harbor Park by Oversized Load until the Grand Marais Lions Club Fireworks show starts around 10 pm.
