On January 24th, Tuesday at 815am in front of the Cook County Courthouse, upon the public sidewalk area (well away from traffic in a safe place) citizens are invited to discuss amongst ourselves the proposal by the EDA for a $1,400,000 tax abatement bond to be issued for the Lutsen apartment rental housing project. Materials describing the Lutsen housing project and bond can be found here – board packet – (then click on "meeting materials" and choose "open", you will be able to scroll down to the proposal from the EDA about the Lutsen Housing project). These public source materials will be used as a basis for our discussion.
You will find that within the public source materials, the yearly bond payment will total $106,000 and is projected to be covered by occupied rental unit revenue. The rent for the proposed apartments are $850 (including utilities) for the 1bd (576 gsf) (8 units) and $1050 (including utilities) for the 2bd (864 gsf) (8 units).
The meeting will end promptly at 825am so that those interested may attend the commissioners meeting inside to hear their discussion on this topic.

TODAY, Sat 1/21 at the Grand Marais Public Library, 3:30pm
Musical Impressions: The Art of George Morrison is touring the Northland through the Arrowhead Library System libraries until 1/21/17 and will be at the Grand Marais Public Library Saturday @ 3:30pm.
"We listened and laughed as Briand spoke of George Morrison's life, art, and music and were drawn into the intimacy of it all as the conversation continued between guitar and art in this presentation."
Musical Impressions: The Art of George Morrison is a visual sequence of George Morrison's art accompanied by live jazz guitar compositions composed by his son, Briand Morrison. George Morrison (1919-2000) is a Native American Abstract Expressionist artist and is accredited as the founder of Native Modernism.
Briand wrote twelve compositions that accompany the 128 images of George Morrison paintings and drawings. Some of these images have never been shown to the public. The works are from all periods, from the 1940s through his death in 2000.
