Is anyone interested in a free introductory practice session on how to do yoga meditation as taught in the oral tradition of the Himalayas? It would include a short guided meditation, gentle joint-and-gland exercises suitable for all ages, meditative sitting postures, diaphragmatic breathing techniques and a relaxation exercise. Participants should bring a mat or blanket and a pillow or cushion.
This is not a course in how to do yoga postures. Depending on interest, there could also be a regular class in meditation with four to six sessions. The instructor has been a student of Swami Veda Bharati since 1971 and recently spent several weeks at his ashram in in the foothills of the Himalayas.
If interested please contact Nancye Belding email@example.com phone 387-3332.
Yoga Joints and Glands Exercises
The simplest possible yoga exercises are called "Joints and Glands," because they gently prepare the body for more advanced postures or sitting for meditation, but they also are helpful as stand-alone exercise, especially for aging muscles and joints or for anyone who may be out of shape. Many can be done in a chair or even a wheelchair, although some are best done from a lying down or standing position.
These exercises are coordinated with the breath, so some basics of diaphragmatic breathing are also taught. They are followed by a guided relaxation. Participants should bring a mat or blanket and a pillow or cushion.
If you would be interested in free weekly or biweekly classes please respond to Nancye Belding firstname.lastname@example.org phone 387-3332.
