Raku Pottery Event! Sivertson Gallery

Do You Raku? We Do!

Saturday 4th of October, 2014 

Learn the secrets of a raku glaze and fire with ceramic artists Richard Gruchella and Carrin Rosetti. Buy a bowl to glaze yourself and Richard will fire it on the spot! This annual event takes place in Grand Marais on Saturday, October 4th from 10 am to 3 pm! 

“Do you Raku” takes place during the North Shore’s “Crossing Borders Studio Tour.” This event offers a unique opportunity for folks to learn about artists’ processes and how their environment influences their aesthetic decisions.

SCHOLARSHIPS!!!
If you live and work in Cook County and you are planning on attending college classes via online, ITV or correspondence, we have two scholarship programs you can apply to. Scholarships can be used towards developmental courses through Master’s and Ph.D. coursework. Applications are due no later than November 1. The two scholarship programs are:

The Wes Hedstrom Scholarship – in honor of longtime resident and Cook County Commissioner Wes Hedstrom
Due Date: November 1 (for spring, 2015 semester classes)
Maximum Award: $300 per year
Scholarship: For year-round Cook County residents who are enrolled in a distance degree program. Must have completed high school or equivalent.

Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation Scholarship – created through the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation in honor of Lloyd K. Johnson
Due Date: November 1 (for spring, 2015 semester courses)
Maximum Award: $2,000 per year, for up to $8,000
Scholarship: For year-round individuals who are enrolled or in the process of enrolling in a distance degree certificate, diploma or degree. Must live in Cook County and have completed high school or equivalent.

**More information about these scholarship opportunities will be presented on Monday, October 6 from 5:30 – 6:30pm at the North Shore Campus. Guests will include Joan Gardner-Goodno from the Lloyd K. Johnson Foundation.
