DJ and others have posted some wonderful pictures of the night sky and auroras... and you too, can experience the stars with one (or both) of the telescopes that have been generously donated to O&E. You can also use them to look at boats on the lake, deer in your front yard...but never, never your neighbors.
It is with mixed feelings that we said goodbye to Clementine the Cow on Saturday. She went to her new forever home..(no, she didn't die, she was adopted). She will join many other happy critters in a local fairy garden.
Blue sectional couch just arrived . Definitely too big for a cabin unless you have a cabin with enough rooms to take a section each. It is really comfortable and the staff would like for you to come and get it because one of us finds it too easy on which to nap!!
There are still a few pieces of outside things for your landscaping needs.
HUNTERS!! If you have watched your diet and are in good shape we have some neoprine and camo for your next fool the ducks and geese adventure. Need a duck call? How about a filet knife? The small gun cabinet is still available. If nothing else, stop in and see the "unusul" photo of "dog retrieving duck' while geese look on. Definitely a conversation piece. What self respecting goose would stand close by while Bonzo the black lab brings home a duck? You have to see it to believe it...and then you won't believe it...believe me.
We are open for sales and donations: Mondays 11-6; Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays 10-4.

Family Friendly event!
For Katie Addams, summer vacation means trips to the farm, new baby kittens, and letters from her adventurous Uncle Edmond. Travel along on a balloon race around Africa, run with the bulls in Spain, and dare to enter a pharaoh’s tomb in Egypt!
Author Rose Arrowsmith DeCoux will perform stories from her book, “The Marvelous Imagination of Katie Addams” at Drury Lane Books on Saturday, September 17th at 5pm.
Rose will also share a preview of “Jorian and the Golems of Grimm,” out Summer 2017.
Rose lives in Grand Marais. Besides writing books for kids and teens, she is a storyteller, actress, educator… and occasional stilt-walker. You can find out more at www.rosearrowsmithdecoux.com.
Hear Rose's interview on WTIP:
Drury Lane Books is on the East Bay of Lake Superior in Grand Marais, 12 E Wisconsin Street.

We have a little used fire place size fireplace insert that is available at a great price. It includes all the tinny stuff (I think they call them chimneys, etc.) that go with it. Now would be the time before it gets cold to consider it.
We also have a little pretend fireplace which is really a space heater, but it is oak (color) and does the job for a fairly large room...or an open cabin area. Why stay away in the winter when you can be just as warm here with out Zika mosquitoes?
It is hunting season and we have some camo coats, neoprene footed waders, and other accessories. I hear the geese circling, so you might want to circle O&E and see what we have.
Don't forget Clementine the cow who, as of today, is still waiting for a forever home. Much better for summer garden than winter garden, but it is certainly up to you.
Gramma and Grampa beware!!! it is getting to be the holiday season...Thanksgiving, Christmas...those days when the kids come home with the little ones. We have stuff for babies to sit in including a really nice grayco backless booster seat. Toys galore and for the older ones: books, crafts, puzzles and games. Don't be caught short with not enough to do if the weather is bad.
If you are planning a get away instead of enjoying the beauty and wonder of Grand Marais winter...we may have some things for you, too...including a Hawaiian Picture album sans pictures.
Don't let the cool rains stop you... we will have hot coffee, good cheer and the usual anything for everyone. Come browze.

Look for lots of tomatoes and other summer vegetables at the Local Food Market on Thursday, including cucumbers, zucchini, hot and sweet peppers, carrots and more. The fall crop of pie pumpkins is just coming in and there will be garlic and mizuna mustard greens, as well as chard and kale. Baked goods might be there too. " Oh my Dahling Clementine." You are too late for Sammy the Swordfish, and for the deer head mount, don't be too late to meet our Dahling Clementine the Cow... who is looking for a forever home. She will greet you at the front door without a sound.
The milking stool has been sold but we have other Clemy specials: a mixer for making whipped cream or butter; a butter dish and ice cream bowls; milk pitchers, cream and sugar sets; cheese cutters,
We also have other Clemy important things: shovels, rakes, buckets and other mucking devices.
We may even have some "udder cream".
Don't miss out on these and many newer items that have been donated (during business hours) in the past two weeks. We still have fine things for college or student rooms...puzzles and games for empty nesters... and gardening or outdoor items that must go before winter. (which is coming soon...sorry).
Come to the place where you can find exactly what you never thought you needed.
From Hilltown Lutheran Bazzar: Recipe for Bath Oil (I kid you not)
1 egg, 1/2 c safflour oil, 1 tsp liquid soap, 2 T RUBBING ALCOHOL, 1/4 c milk ; Beat good and keep in refrigerator. Sometimes I add a little rosewater glycerin " Good luck, tell me how that goes!

For those who listened to my lament on illegal dumping, I guess I should have added that dropping off donations during off hours also makes me whine. We got some beautiful items this week that were "dropped off" outside pre-opening; and we happened to find them before it started to rain. If it had rained, some really wonderful donations would have been ruined.
So...I whine to you.... please, please drop off your donations during open hours Mondays 11-6; Tues, Fridays and Saturdays 10-4. If you really can't donate during our hours, call us 370-0615 (during open hours) and we can make arrangements for you.
The cheese? Well, I guess cheese has nothing to do with it all...... cheese whiz, what did you expect?
Thanks for your co-operation, though.
