Cook County and Barnum both had scoring chances on Wednesday, but it was Cook County that was able to capitalize on them as it pulled out a 4-3 win at Arleigh Jorgenson Field.
Barnum got three hits compared with just two for Cook County, but Barnum stranded nine on base.
Cook County held off Barnum, as Barnum was unable to overcome a three-run third inning deficit.
Barnum scored on a two-run home run by Jacob Naslund in the fourth inning and a wild pitch in the sixth inning. Despite its efforts, Barnum couldn't finish the comeback.
Alex Murray recorded the win for Cook County. He allowed three runs over 5 2/3 innings. The Cook County pitcher struck out seven, walked five and surrendered two hits.
The game was never in doubt after the second, as Cook County scored two runs on a groundout by Thomas Anderson and an RBI single by Joe Borud.
