Minutes of the Old Ski Hill Consensus Committee 11/6/2000
In attendance: Vicki Wenz, Kevin Bader, Cathi Williams, Amy Wilfahrt, Philis Anderson, Annie Debevec, Sue Abrahamsen, George Wilkes, Bill Hansen. Guests - Kay Costello.
Meeting convened at 4:30 PM at the Fireside Room at the Congregational Church in Grand Marais.
Consensus was reached on approval of the 10/30/00 minutes.
Onsensus was reached that the committee's recommendations be presented at a joint meeting of the Grand Marais City Council and the Cook County Board of Commissioners.
Cathi reported her conversation with local climbers who report that the bluff area on the porperty is too unstable for safe climbing.
Consensus Proposal #19 - No housing or lodging located on the property, other than the area addressed in Consensus Item #14. The property be used for recreational purpose.
Consensus Proposal #20 - Build a road starting at County Road #7 on the west side of the property up to the top of the hill. Boreal Birding Center building at the top of the hill, snowboard/ski area on the east side (facing southeast), campground on west side.
Cosensus Proposal #21 - Trade 240 acres of county land on the northern end of the property for federal land located along County road #7 or other developable property.
Consensus Proposal #22 - Designate northern 240 acres of county land as protected in order to protect fen watershed.
Next meeting November 13th at 4:30 PM at the Congregational Church in Grand Marais.
