- What is it?
The Boreal Web Accelerator is a software application that allows you to surf the web up to 7 times faster. It requires no special hardware and will work on a PC or Mac. As a bonus, the software includes pop-up blockers and ad blockers.
- What will be accelerated?
The Boreal Web Accelerator will not change your modem's connect speed, but it will significantly speed up web page access by compressing text and images. It can also be configured to speed up outgoing email (SMTP) and FTP file transfers (in passive mode).The Boreal Web Accelerator will NOT speed up secure (https) transactions, incoming (POP3) mail, non-FTP file downloads such as music and file-sharing applications (ex. Napster, BitTorrent, Kazaa, Gnutella, etc.), online gaming or web streaming of audio or video media.
- Who should use it?
The Boreal Web Accelerator is designed for people who have an Internet connection slower than 384K. Specifically Boreal dial-up customers, Waverider customers, and 256K Line-of-sight customers will see a significant speed increase by using the Web Accelerator. However, if you're using the Wifi or Mesh system, you probably won't gain anything with the Web Accelerator.
- How much does it cost?
- Boreal Members: Boreal Members get a 15-day free trial of the Web Accelerator. If you decide to keep using the software after 15 days, the fee is $1.95/month. This fee will be added to your regular Boreal bill.
- Non-Members: Non-members may use the Web Accelerator for $3.95/month.
- How do I sign up?
- Boreal Members: Click Here to sign up for the service. You'll need to enter your Boreal user name and password to verify your membership status.
- Non-Members: Click Here to sign up for the service. You'll need to provide a credit card number. This credit card will be automatically billed $3.95 every month.
- How do I get help with the system?
