LeAnn Zunker/Owner

A Cook County native, LeAnn Zunker earned her Interior Design degree online in 1995 while working part time and raising her small children. She started working at Better Buy Design in 1996, becoming manager in 1998. LeAnn purchased the business in 2003 from former owner and founder Alan Hedstrom. Her creativity and quality standards have set the bar for beautiful homes along the North Shore and Gunflint Trail.

Karen Ranning/Office Manager

Around the office, Karen Ranning’s co-workers appreciate her outgoing personality and say she is irreplaceable. Office manager since 1998, Karen is also very experienced in helping customers select floor and wall coverings. An accomplished gardener, Karen and her husband recently built a log home near Grand Marais.

Heather Manstch

After visiting the Boundary Waters Canoe Area for many years, kitchen and bath designer Heather Mantsch moved from Madison Wisconsin, to the North Shore in 2005. She can work with you on designs for new construction or remodeling projects. Heather recently finished building her own home in Hovland.

Bob and Nancy Steward

With a boat in Grand Marais harbor and a home here, too, Bob and Nancy Steward are moving to the North Shore from Newport, Minnesota. The couple has been in the flooring business since 1969 and are experienced in carpet, vinyl, laminate, and ceramic tile. Customer service is their hallmark. Once they begin your project, they’ll stay on the job until it is finished.

Jake Wilson

Expect quality workmanship from CFI-trained Jake Wilson, who has 14 years of experience with vinyl, carpet, laminate, wood, and ceramic installations. Jake and his wife live in Colvill with their two daughters.

National Awards

At 1010 Interiors, local is as local does. Owner Leann Zunker takes pride in working with local contractors and local suppliers, doing as much business as possible within the local community.

“We are not a chain store,” she says. “We are an independent business that supports local families.”

But this local company receives national recognition. LeAnn received the grand prize from Crystal Kitchens in 2007 for her kitchen design in Brad and Karen Ranning’s new log home. Other 1010 Interiors design projects have won awards, too.

The staff at 1010 Interiors doesn’t rest on their laurels. Every customer receives first-rate advice and assistance for interior designs of new home and remodeling projects. The expansive showroom includes a wealth of floor coverings, countertops, and cabinetry, as well as kitchen and bath interiors. More flooring and carpet remnants are available at the company’s warehouse.

Complete interior design assistance is available, including color selection and window coverings. 1010 Interiors can produce a computer-generated drawing of a planned room so you can see how it looks. They specialize in unique, personalized designs.

“We try to offer something different than the big box stores--something you won’t see somewhere else,” says LeAnn.

Some customers prefer to have everything selected for them. Others want to make their own choices. 1010 Interiors has done complete interiors for many North Shore homes and provides whatever level of assistance the customer needs.
