Mountain bike enthusiasts are gearing up for the annual Life Time Lutsen 99er presented by Visit Cook County, which takes place June 28th and 29th, 2024. Organizers expect over 2,000 racers to participate in this year's event.

Amanda Kussin, Marketing Manager for Life Time Athletic Events, told Boreal Community Media that this year, riders can expect to find new courses on the west side of Lutsen, along with some returning favorites. "The courses this year will be different from previous years, but still have the same mix of everything that athletes love about them. We'll still have some of the same iconic sections as before, like the singletrack at the end, Caribou Climb, and Honeymoon Trail, which we haven't had in a while."

Above all, Kussin shared that racers can expect everything from ATV and snowmobile trails to single-track, all amongst beautiful scenery. "Expect the unexpected. This weekend is truly a celebration and our goal is for everyone to come out and have a good time."

The Lutsen 99er caters to all ages and abilities, and while the main races (the 29er, 45er, 69er, and the namesake 99er) are full, the Little Niners event remains open for children. "That registration never closes, so any and all kids can sign up at any time. We'll never turn a kiddo away," Kussin said.

Volunteers are needed to ensure a smooth event, with a specific need for June 28 registration and check-in helpers, as well  crew drivers, course marshalls, and finish line/medal handouts for June 29.
