The recent closure announcement from Almost Home Appliance has many Cook County community members wondering what other options are available for purchasing and repairing home appliances locally. Some may not be aware that Isak Hansen Independent Hardware, Home Center, and Custom Builders in Lutsen, MN, sells and services appliances. For over 90 years, Isak Hansens has been here to support the needs of Cook County residents. Boreal Community Media reached out to Tom Dwyer, owner of Isak Hansen, to learn more.
For more than three decades the Lumber and Home Center store has carried brands such as Whirlpool, Maytag, and Amana appliances in stock and on the floor - something that will remain the same. However, Dwyer shared that major brands such as GE, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Samsung, Bosch, and Jenn-Aire will be available for staff to order.

For more than three decades the Lumber and Home Center store has carried brands such as Whirlpool, Maytag, and Amana appliances in stock and on the floor - something that will remain the same. However, Dwyer shared that major brands such as GE, KitchenAid, Frigidaire, Samsung, Bosch, and Jenn-Aire will be available for staff to order.
If an item needs to be ordered, the average lead time is approximately 7-10 days. "We usually order twice a month, but special orders can also be placed if timing is important," Dwyer said. Additionally, appliances can be delivered throughout Cook County, as well as into eastern Lake County.
When it comes to appliance repairs, Dwyer told Boreal Community Media "We service all out-of-warranty appliances. For in-warranty, the customer is required to contact the company and they will assign it to a servicer. We can take those calls too."
