The Grand Marais Playhouse is proud to present Queens by Kristin Doherty at the Arrowhead Center for the Arts March 15-17 & 22-24.
The play is a dramatic tale of an old King Henry VIII, trapped in purgatory, bound to his throne by a sinister Fool. Henry is forced to relive the sins he committed in life. Here, his six wives, Cathrine of Aragon, Anne Boleyn, Jane Seymour, Anne of Cleves, Kathryn Howard, Kathryn Parr play-out their harrowing tales of life and death in the Tudor court and the vile crimes Henry committed against them. The women of the cast double as court gossips who share with delight all the dark secrets and atrocities committed in Henry’s relentless quest for a son. Will Henry repent or be forced to listen yet another time?
Performances are 7 PM on Fridays and Saturdays March 15, 16, 22, 23 and 2 PM on Sundays March 17 and 24. Tickets are $15 and available at grandmaraisplayhouse.com/queens. This play contains mature historical content.
