11 days, 2 hours, 39 minutes, and 38 seconds. That's how long Grand Marais musher Anna Hennessy spent on the trail for her inaugural Iditarod race.

Hennessy finished the race by racing into the Nome checkpoint with 12 dogs in 24th place. The team's average speed was 3.62 mph throughout the 11 days. Anna was the fifth rookie to finish the 2024 race.

You can see a video of the finish on the Iditarod website here.

Hennessy raced with a team with Shameless Huskies Kennel - Kathleen Frederick, based in Alaska. According to a Facebook post on the Shameless Huskies Kennel page, "Shameless Huskies Kennel is a small racing kennel based in Willow, Alaska owned by musher Kathleen Frederick. Since 2013, the kennel has mentored young mushers who want to do the Iditarod. Mushers who have worked with SHK and later went on to do Iditarod include Newton Marshall, Jimmy Lebling, Eric Kelly, and Susannah Tumonelli. In 2024, Anna Hennessy will be on the Iditarod trail with SHK dogs. In 2013 and 2014 (Newton Marshall), 2017 ((Jimmy Lebling), and 2022 (Susannah Tumonelli) sponsored these young mushers in Iditarod by providing them with the dog team that took them to Nome. SHK has also sponsored four female teenagers over the years in the Junior Iditarod by providing them with a dog team for that race."

Congrats to Anna and the team on an amazing race!
