Drury Lane Books shares top 10 bestselling titles from 2023, featuring many local authors

Visitors and locals alike know Drury Lane Books. The cute yellow, purple, and white house that sits along the shoreline of Lake Superior in Grand Marais is a place that many go to find a beloved classic or a new release. Along with books, Drury Lane also hosts a variety of events throughout the year, including author talks and book signings (like this recent author talk with Cary J. Griffith), poetry readings, book clubs, and more. 

If you're in the mood for a new read, a new author, or a revisit of a favorite, you're in luck. Drury Lane staff put together a list of the top 10 bestsellers for 2023 earlier this year, which you can find below.

#10: A tie between The Seed Keeper by Diane Wilson and Tom Lake: A Novel by Ann Patchett. The Seed Keeper was tied for 10th place in 2022 as well.

#9: A tie between Iron Lake (20th Anniversary Edition): A Novel (Cork O'Connor Mystery Series #1) by William Kent Krueger and Antler, Bear, Canoe: A Northwoods Alphabet by Betsy Bowen. Antler, Bear, Canoe appeared in the 9th spot in 2022

#8: Demon Copperhead: A Pulitzer Prize Winner by Barbara Kingsolver

#7: The Birchbark House by Louise Erdrich

#6: The River We Remember: A Novel by William Kent Krueger

#5: Sunken: Shipwrecks of Lake Superior by Kathy Groth. Sunken appeared at the number two spot in 2022. 

#4: Murder on the Red River (A Cash Blackbear Mystery #1) by Marcie R. Rendon. Murder on the Red River appeared in the same spot in 2022. 

#3: Making the Carry: The Lives of John and Tchi-Ki-Wis Linklater by Timothy Cochrane

#2: A tie between Seven Aunts and Walking the Old Road: A People's History of Chippewa City and the Grand Marais Anishinaabe by Staci Lola Drouillard (hear Staci speak at the Grand Marais Public Library on March 6). Both books by Drouillard were tied for the #1 best selling books in 2022. 

#1: Spirits Dancing by Travis Novitsky and Annette S. Lee (read an interview with Travis Novitsky about the book here).
