Snowshoe Hare turn white in winter to help camouflage them from predators. When we have a winter that is like this year with very little snow their camouflage doesn’t work very well. This guy has been hanging around on Artist Point in Grand Marais. I have seen it half a dozen times in the last week. Sometimes it would come out on the beach. Those huge white feet of theirs can help them travel over the snow with ease but don’t do much good on beach rock.
