Cook County Early Childhood & Community Education is seeking volunteer members for a newly formed Parent Advisory Council (PAC). Similar to PTO for Sawtooth Elementary School, the PAC is needed to help guide Early Childhood Education activities (for children aged 0-4, including the preschool program).

According to Krista Olson, Early Childhood & Community Education Coordinator, the budget for Early Childhood & Community Ed "falls under the Community Ed (04 budget), and is separate from the General K-12 budget (01 budget)," requiring the program to plan and fund its events and activities.

More specifically, the PAC will "Act as a resource for preschool staff, and will
discuss outreach efforts, raise funds, sponsor events, volunteer, and approve classroom grant requests," according to the Cook County Early Childhood & Community Education Department.

You do not need to have a child aged 0-4 (or in preschool) to volunteer for the PAC, however, a passion for early childhood education is preferred. The PAC is also looking for parents of kids within that age range.

Meetings will be held virtually, and the PAC plans to meet quarterly throughout the year, unless planning for a special event. The first meeting will be held in February, with a specific date announced soon.
