One of the greatest struggles with the foster care system is that there are not enough people to provide care for children in need.

Whether for a few days, weeks or longer, foster care providers are great gifts to the community.

Foster care providers can be individuals, married or unmarried couples, living in an apartment, a house in town, or the country.

The value of providing foster care is best expressed by a youth who has participated in it: “My foster home helped me feel love, safety, and comfort. They treated me like I was one of their own. I’ll never be able to repay their kindness.”

Would you consider any of these options?

  • Emergency short-term care
  • Respite care
  • Long-term care (usually 3 mo. – 1 year)
  • Foster care to adoption

Foster Children Receive:

  • Health Insurance
  • Therapeutic care, if needed
  • Child care, if needed
  • Case management support by social workers
  • Clothing allowance

Foster Parents Receive:

  • Training
  • Support
  • Respite Care
  • Daily stipend (non-taxable income)

Please consider providing foster care in Cook County and Grand Portage.
