Minnesota is one step closer to getting a new flag, with only three designs left in the running

Only three potential flag designs remain in the running for the new Minnesota State Flag, after the State Emblems Redesign Commission held its weekly meeting on Tuesday of this week.

The three designs still up for consideration are:

Only three potential flag designs remain in the running for the new Minnesota State Flag, after the State Emblems Redesign Commission held its weekly meeting on Tuesday of this week.

The three designs still up for consideration are:

Potential modifications were discussed for each of the three designs, and graphic designers will be creating mockups for a special meeting on Friday, December 15.
Additionally, modifications for the recently selected state seal were approved, including:
- Making the loon’s eye red
- Not including the year (1858)
- Not including the motto (L'etoile du Nord)
- Including Mni Sóta Makoc̣e (“Land where the waters reflect the sky” in Dakota)
