One morning Karla looked out our kitchen window and there was a covey of five ruffed grouse in the birch tree eating buds. I grabbed the camera but they flew down before I got any photos.

That’s when I saw one of the males displaying. He was trying to draw the attention of the females that had been in the birch. I love the pattern and coloration of the feathers on ruffed grouse when in full display.
