On October 12th, 2023, at approximately 7:40 P.M., St Louis County Deputies were dispatched to the report of a missing/lost person in the area of Whisper Lake, which is approximately 5 miles North of the City of Babbitt, MN. 

Family members reported finding the vehicle belonging to a 38-year-old female from Hibbing, MN at the end of a trail off Rivard Rd., which is off of Hwy 21 N. The vehicle was unoccupied, the female was several hours overdue, and she was not dressed for the cool nighttime temperatures.  

The St. Louis County Sheriff's Volunteer Rescue Squad responded to the area with several off-road vehicles, drones, and personnel to search the area. At approximately 12:30 A.M., members of a Rescue Squad search group located the missing female. The female appeared to be uninjured but was ultimately transported by Babbitt Ambulance to the hospital to be further evaluated.

The Rescue Squad was assisted by the Babbitt Police Department, the Ely Police Department, and the Babbitt Ambulance Service.
