From the Cook County Sheriff's Office - October 5, 2023

The Cook County Sheriff’s Office has received several reports of a telephone scam going on. The caller states that he/she is a deputy with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office and is calling about a warrant.

The caller will then ask for money to be transferred so that the warrant can be taken care of.

Please know that the Sheriff’s Office WILL NEVER solicit funds over the phone! If you receive a call like this,

DO NOT transfer any money to the caller for any reason they may give. The caller will be very convincing, but as stated, the Sheriff’s Office will never conduct business that way. Either hang up or report the incident to Cook County Dispatch at 218-387-3030.

Thank you!
