Early September saw plenty of North Shore visitors taking a swim in Lake Superior as temperatures soared into the 80s on Labor Day weekend in Grand Marais. 

Less than two weeks later, the first sub-freezing wind chill of season arrived in town. 

The National Weather Service announced the sub-freezing wind chill was recorded in Grand Marais at 11:15 p.m. Tuesday.
