From Cook County - August 31, 2023

Please see below for a weekly update from the Cook County Highway Department regarding construction on 5th Ave.:

This week, Ulland Brother’s has been focusing their efforts on storm sewer installation from 2nd St. to 3rd. St. Mid to late next week, a single driving lane will be restored from 2nd St. north to the Courthouse west parking lot so the public may access the lot.

Ulland has also been planning and preparing for their third and final water shutdown of the project that will take place tonight (Wednesday 8/30). Public notification began on Monday 8/28 and we appreciate everyone’s efforts in helping us get the word out.

Next week, Ulland will resume water main installation from 4th St. to 5th St.

Late this week, at the 5th St. and 5th Ave. intersection, we will be delineating a temporary pedestrian path around the construction site so pedestrians may safely cross the intersection on the north side of 5th St. See the snapshot below for reference:
