Search continues for missing ultralight pilot from Hovland area

On the evening of Friday, August 18, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office was notified of a missing person in the Hovland area. A man, Denny Pechacek, was flying an ultralight plane and took off from approximately 30 Flutereed Rd. Cook County Search and Rescue was called out, along with Hovland Fire to begin searching for the pilot who did not return.
Over the weekend, landowners in the area were asked to check their properties for any sign of Pechacek. Local search and rescue crews and other entities searched by air and land.
On Sunday, August 20th, the Cook County Sheriff's Office issued a request for volunteers to assist in a ground search on Monday.
If you saw or heard Denny Pechacek flying on Friday evening after 7pm, or have any other relevant information, please call the Sheriff’s Office at 218-387-3030.
