Incident Name & Size: August Lake Fire-3 acres
Status: The fire is 100 percent contained.
Description: The fire was detected on August 7, 2023, burning in heavy vegetation with difficult access. Cause was determined to be lightning.
Location: Superior National Forest. Township 61N, Section 17, Range 10W by August and Heart Lakes; approximately 15 miles southeast of Ely, MN. The fire is close to the Prospector ATV Trail; however, there is no recommended change in use currently.
Resources: Ground resources continue to work the fire by mopping up (putting out hot spots near the control line down to mineral soil) and monitoring precipitation. No additional resources needed.
