From Cook County Public Health and Human Services - July 18, 2023

Cook County Public Health and Human Services is working on the formation of a Substance Use Prevention Coalition. This group is open to all community members and people who have lived with experiences of substance use disorder, directly or indirectly are welcome to join.

As the group comes together and forms specific priorities, the focus will be on:

 ·        Identifying what substance use concerns exist locally.

·        Discussing how risk and protective factors affect substance use and prevention.

·        Learning about evidence-based programs to address local substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.

·        Examining community readiness for potential programs and educational components.

·        Developing goals, strategies, and objectives around substance use prevention, treatment, and recovery.

·        Evaluating progress on those goals to determine our effectiveness.
