Missing person on Seagull Lake found deceased

On May 14, at approximately 11:24 p.m. Cook County dispatch received a call about a missing person on Seagull Lake. Due to the time that the call came in, it was decided that search efforts would begin immediately the following day.

Cook County Search and Rescue began to mobilize to include water, ground, and air searches of the area adjacent to where the person was last seen. The party was last seen paddling towards Trail End Campground. The party was wearing a PFD and was an experienced canoeist.

Search efforts began and the missing person was located in the water deceased at approximately 7:42 a.m. The victim is identified as Mickeal Ray Brown, 63 of Montgomery, Texas. The body will be transported to the Midwest Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.

Responding units include Cook County/Gunflint Trail Search & Rescue, USFS, and Cook County Sheriff’s Office.
