Local thrift store Oddz & Endz invests over $80,000 to Cook County organizations

Well-known local thrift store Oddz & Endz announced last week that the organization plans to distribute $80,443.17 to Cook County organizations from profits earned in 2022.
The store is run entirely by volunteers, who receive an "hourly wage". This "wage" is paid to a local non-profit of the volunteer's choice. In 2022, 45 volunteers gave 5500 hours to the organization.
At the end of the year, total profits minus expenses (which include rent, utilities, insurance, and taxes) are divided by the total number of volunteer hours.
According to Dale McIntire of Oddz & Endz, "this determines the "hourly wage", or base amount each volunteer hour is worth that year."

McIntire continued by adding for 2022, the "hourly wage" was $14.63 an hour.
According to a Facebook post, Oddz & Endz shared that their mission can be summarized by three words: environment, economy, and empathy.
The organization collects household goods through donations, and sells them to the community at affordable prices - keeping items out of the landfill. Oddz & Endz has also been able to contribute goods for emergency needs within the community.
