The National Endowment for the Arts is a federal organization that provides funding to arts organizations around the country. One of the goals is to create an opportunity where art benefits everyone in the United States.

One of the primary actions of the NEA is to award grants to artists and art organizations, which they do throughout the year.

Recently, the first round of grant rewards was announced and included some organizations and individuals from Northern Minnesota.

According to the National Endowment for the Arts website, "as part of the application review process, the NEA worked with more than 340 expert reviewers with relevant knowledge and experience who reviewed the applications and rated them in accordance with published review criteria."

Almost 2,000 eligible applicants were reviewed, and 1251 were awarded grants between $10,000 and $100,000.
