A Chanhassen man was detained and arrested at the Village Inn after allegedly attempting to take keys from a child in a Virginia, MN Target parking lot.

According to Virginia Police, Miguel Angel Grijalva Jr., 21, was seen on July 19, grabbing a 10-year-old by the wrist trying to take the keys to her dad’s truck.

Court documents say while the child’s dad was standing in line at the Target pharmacy, he told her to grab his medicine bottle from the truck.

As she walked back into the store, Grijalva allegedly grabbed her by the wrist and demanded the keys to the truck.

Court documents say she kicked him and he ran away.

At some point, the dad located Grijalva at the Village Inn and detained him until police arrived.

Grijalva told police he went to Target to ask for a ride home after leaving detox but did not grab or touch anyone at Target.

Court documents say the child’s wrist had marks on it from Grijalva’s grip.

On Tuesday he was charged with Attempted First Degree Aggravated Robbery and Attempted Theft of a Motor Vehicle.
