With a record number of artists (40), live music and food, bright blue skies, and ample sun, the Hovland Arts Festival was the place to be the first weekend in July.

Boreal Community Media's own Laura Durenberger-Grunow visited the festival to document the occasion (and inevitably picked up a couple of pieces) through a series of photographs.

The colorful Vardo wagon, owned by storyteller Shannon CrossBear, welcomed guests as you entered into the festival.

Bright, beautiful colors were all around, including this booth with hand-woven pieces by Mary MacDonald, hand weaver.

 Just look at those colors!

The festival housed several painters, including these pieces by Jayne Richards of JR Designs

One of Jayne Richard's pieces found a new home!

Custom knives and sheaths were available from W Youmans of North Shore Knives

The Hovland Volunteer Fire Department had a booth, selling items to raise money, as well as recruit new volunteers

These bracelets were just some of the items the Hovland Volunteer Fire Department was selling to raise money

Other beautiful beadwork and wind chimes were available from Serenity Pines Creations

It may be July, but it's never too early to stock up on warm, colorful cool weather knits from North Road Knits

To help visitors enjoy the warmer months, North Road Knits was also selling vegetable seedlings

Linda Bauer of Raven's Beak Design was there with these gorgeous felted bags

Another item that found a new home was from Dee Closson of Up North Leather Craft

Visitors stop to catch up with each other and enjoy the work of local artists

Hovland Town Hall housed even more local artists

Visitors were able to enjoy live music all weekend long, including songs by local musician Boyd "Bump" Blomberg
