The Two Harbors mayor is expected to make an announcement Wednesday, just one day after his deadline to either resign or face a recall election.

On Monday, May 23, the Two Harbors City Council voted in favor of setting a recall election for Mayor Chris Swanson.

He then had five business days to submit his resignation, with the deadline being 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 31.

We reached out to the Two Harbors city administrator Tuesday to learn what happened, but we did not immediately hear back.

Swanson did not immediately say when he’ll make his announcement or what it’s about, but we hope to ask him more about this situation.

Recently, 600 Two Harbors residents signed a petition, asking the mayor to either resign or be recalled.

They were largely concerned with his handling of private versus public business.
