Authorities are investigating what caused a fire that destroyed a home on the Iron Range Sunday afternoon.

According to Friends of the Northland FireWire, the fire broke out around 4:30 p.m. on the 5200 block of the East Bodas Road in Palo, which is near Aurora.

The house was fully engulfed when crews arrived.  Adog and two cats died in the fire. It’s unclear if anyone was home at the time.
