April Greetings, Families!
It has been observed that with many students being mask-free, there has been an uptick in illnesses in the community. Colds, sore throats, and recently, stomach issues (the dreaded vomiting and diarrhea) have been experienced in classrooms. To help prevent the spread of these illnesses, we want to remind families to keep students home if they are ill - even if it is "just a cold". Cold symptoms mimic Covid symptoms and the only way to know which it is, for sure, is to test.
As a reminder, students should be fever free without medication for 24 hours before returning to school. The 24 hour rule applies to the wait time after vomiting and diarrhea, as well. Although Covid rates in Cook County are down, there are still some cases in families, including school age children. Please continue to be watchful for signs and know that we have Covid tests available in the entry at school for families to pick up at your convenience. We are also happy to send test kits home with siblings. Just give the office a call. Thank you so much for your help in keeping our kiddos healthy! |
