Lt. Governor Peggy Flanagan visited Duluth to discuss the nearly $1 billion proposed investment to help with affordable housing and homelessness.

In a round table discussion at the American Indian Company Housing Organization. Flanagan chose to highlight different investments from the Walz-Flanagan Budget to put a focus on supportive and culturally appropriate housing.

And while the efforts may not seem profitable in the short term, Flanagan mentions that in the long term it could help improve Minnesota. She says, “When we have people who feel deeply connected, then the need for other services goes away. When we talk about families who've been housed for five years, that's incredible! Who were not late on their rent during the pandemic and who were apart of the community. I think that makes a lot of difference and that's how we save money."

After the round table the Lt. Governor said, "I think what we heard here today is that we know what works we just need to invest in it.”
