Charges have been filed against a former Duluth restaurant owner accused of sexually assaulting children.

William Kalligher, 61, is facing seven felonies, including criminal sexual conduct and attempted criminal sexual conduct. Kalligher is the former owner of Gannucci’s Italian Market in Duluth, which closed in summer 2021.

According to court documents, authorities launched an investigation into “numerous” sexual assault allegations against Kalligher this past summer.

One teen, who was known to Kalligher, said the incidents happened between 2018 and 2019.

The victim described oral and other sexual abuse.

A separate victim, also known to Kalligher, said the alleged abuse dated back to when the victim was under 12. Kalligher made his first court appearance Wednesday.  A future court date has not been set.
