Two new non-stop flights from Duluth International Airport take off for the first time Friday. Sun Country Airlines begins service from DLH Airport to Phoenix and Fort Myers.

Flights are available Mondays and Fridays. Airport representatives said there is a demand for more flights, especially to warmer destinations.

Officials hope this expansion will help the airport recover from the pandemic financially.

To celebrate the new flights, the airport is hosting a “Pack Your Bags and Go” event.

The public is invited to literally pack their bags and enjoy food and drinks at the airport from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Friday.

Attendees could win one of two travel packages to either Fort Myers or Phoenix. That includes airfare and accommodations for two travelers.

Winners will depart that night and return to Duluth Monday. Click here for more information.
