A Lake Elmo woman is trying to provide comfort for cancer patients this holiday season.

Brey Mafi is trying to create 100 — or more — care kits for patients undergoing chemo. She works with cancer pain patients and says that right now, especially, is tough for those receiving care, as many centers have limits on family and friends accompanying patients to treatment.

She hopes the tangible gifts can bring comfort but hopes to expand her reach.

"We would love more help. I think there are endless cancer patients to help right now and so to keep this going and with the help of the community to make this larger, that would be amazing," Mafi says.

The chemo care kits will be donated to M Health Fairview Cancer Center in Maplewood. Each contains things like refillable water bottles, snacks, puzzle books, crafting supplies, lotion and lavender essential oil.
