"Just answering the phone is challenging. People are mad, but it's not our fault. We are doing everything we can, using our combined 61 years experience. We can find some, but it's not the same amount that we need," he said. "All of us in this business are in the same boat."

He pointed out all the signs he has up, about what he does NOT have in stock. And what he does, often has limits on how many you can buy.

So why the shortage? Well, he said he believes it's a combination of several things, including hoarding, Remington going out of business, the election, and plenty of new people buying firearms during the pandemic.

That leaves longtime hunters in big competition for supplies.

Advice from them is to keep trying the different stores and checking online. Sometimes you get lucky.

Jordan Adams told us he worked down the road from Glen's, and he'd stop by on his way home from work. "I got ammo here a couple of times," he said. "And I ordered some online, but then the order got cancelled because the company oversold."

His friend, Chase Agnes, is from Gully, and he said he went to Grand Forks to pick up one box.

The two were planning on going bird hunting. "It's a little bit of adventure," Agnes said. Adams added, "And it's a little bit of exercise."

But they'll have to exercise patience, to find ammo everywhere again. Eichorn estimates it could be a couple of years before the shelves are fully stocked again.
