Firefighters responded to help fight flames aboard a decommissioned ship docked at a Duluth scrapyard on Monday afternoon.

Flames were visible coming from the J.B. Ford, in a slip at Azcon Metals on Rice's Point, around 3:20 p.m. Around 3:45, crews pulled apart a structure on the ship's top deck.

The 118-year-old ship has been at its present location since 2016. Duluth city spokesperson Kate Van Daele said crews were dismantling the ship when a spark ignited wood in a cabin area.

No injuries have been reported, and there is no fuel or oil on board.

WDIO News has a crew on the scene, and this story will be updated as new information becomes available.
