From Cook County Public Health and Human Services - January 25, 2021

Officials from the Cook County Emergency Operations Center and Public Health announced today that county residents age 75 or older will receive the COVID-19 vaccine beginning this Thursday, January 28, at the Cook County Community Center.

“While we complete phase 1A of vaccination in Cook County, we are excited to begin offering vaccine to all county residents age 75 or older,” said Co-Incident Commander and Public Health Supervisor Grace Grinager. “Based on the number of community members age 75 and older, we anticipate scheduling additional vaccination slots next week to reach all eligible residents who would like a vaccine. Vaccines will also be made available to residents age 65 to 74 as we receive more doses of the vaccine in Cook County.”

Registration is required for this and all future vaccine events. Visit the Cook County COVID-19 hub site at www.cookcountycovid19.org for a link to complete the online registration. To register, individuals will need:

  • Details proving that you are age 75 or older and a resident of Cook County
  • Your name, address, phone number and date of birth
  • A valid email address

Insurance information is not required at time of registration. There is no need to receive approval from your primary care physician as long as you have not had a previous anaphylactic reaction or are not immunocompromised, said Grinager.

“A family member or other trusted helper or care provider may help with the registration process,” Grinager stated, adding that assistance is also available for those who do not have internet access or need additional help. Simply call (218) 387-3668 or email [email protected].

Once registration is closed, individuals will no longer be able to access the online registration form. A waitlist option will be available for the first 30 applicants after registration closes.  A new registration link for that week’s vaccination clinic will open the following Monday.

Grinager asked those not in the current eligible group to refrain from calling or emailing about being vaccinated early. Adults age 65 and older, people with high risk medical conditions and other essential workers will have access to a vaccine as part of phase 1c distribution.

For current information on vaccine distribution, please visit the Cook County COVID-19 hub site at www.cookcountycovid19.org. Cook County Public Health will continue to post information on who is currently eligible to register for a vaccine as well as how people in that group can sign up to be vaccinated.
