It is open to the public, and the idea for it was first brought up about a month and a half ago.

"Over the last month and a half it's been a process definitely, but it's come out beautifully," said Superior Shores Resort Director of Sales & Events Eric Mortinson.

Wednesday was opening day, and as the sun went down, the lights lit up.

"We're going for that 'wow' factor, and I think we definitely accomplished it here," said Mortinson.

The lights are just one of the defining characteristics of the Infinity Skating Rink. As the name suggests, it is in the shape of an infinity symbol.

"We just wanted something different, something unique, something that is going to catch the eye of not only the public, but also any guests that might want to join us here at Superior Shores," said Mortinson.

Employees and community members tried out the new rink on Wednesday, including first time skaters Jan Cayapos, and Paolo Alonzo.

Cayapos and Alonzo say they have seen skating rinks in the Philippines where they're from, but none quite like the Infinity Rink.

"You can do a loop de loop, and it looks like an infinity thing," said Alonzo. "It's cool and fun to have a rink like this to just go around and around, not just having the same as ours just a rectangle, but here you can have fun and race," he added.

Whether you're a guest of Superior Shores Resort, or a member of the community, when you come to the rink, it means infinite fun.

"At Superior Shores, we're really trying to get involved with the community, and we're really trying to supply amenities for people to use to bring the kids out, have fun, do some family activities, get out of the house, and just have a good time," said Mortinson.    

The hours for the rink are 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. seven days a week.  Registration is required on the Superior Shores Resort website.

Skate rentals are available for $5 for community members. Guests who stay at Superior Shores Resort can rent them for free.

Masks are required in what is called the "warming hut", and social distancing is encouraged on the rink itself.

Anyone who wishes to skate needs to sign a waiver.
