From Sawtooth Mountain Clinic - October 17, 2019

The Safe Routes to School (SRTS) Committee is seeking input from parents of students that attend Sawtooth Elementary and Great Expectations.

The parent survey collects data on student travel, as well as parent concerns and input on the infrastructure in and around the school zone. This data is used to inform future SRTS projects and infrastructure change requests, as well as to gauge the success of the SRTS plan.

The Sawtooth Mountain Elementary School parent survey can be found here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KL6SK3P . The GES parent survey can be found here:
https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KVF5XZY .

The survey will take approximately 15 minutes to
complete. Your input is very appreciated to the committee, as well as to the schools, to help
ensure student safety.

The Safe Routes to School Committee works year-round to make it safer and easier for children
to walk and bike to and from school. Studies have found that physical activity, such as walking
or biking to school, allows students to concentrate better during the school day. And while many students in our county do not live in Grand Marais, many walk or bike to an afterschool
destination in Grand Marais.

Other local initiatives include Walk/Bike to School Days, Pedestrian Safety Enforcement events, in-school bike education, winter maintenance activities coordination, and many other initiatives.

Coordinator, Andrea Orest, at [email protected] or 218-387-2330.
