Join us for stories, songs, and other activities. All ages welcome!

Perler Bead Creations

Monday-Thursday, June 4-7 & June 11-14, 1:00-3:00 p.m.

Create flowers, animals, shapes, or any design you can dream up with colorful beads.

Friction Farm

Saturday, June 9, 2018 10:30 a.m.

Aidan and Christine of Friction Farm spend a lot of time reading. They can't imagine anyone not loving books. But maybe some folks haven't met the right books yet. Or maybe they don't know about the wonderful places that books can take them with just a little imagination. Books can even inspire songs. Drawing on suggestions from teachers, librarians, their own favorites (This Is Not My Hat, Tidy), some input from kids (Don't Let The Pigeon Drive The Bus) and award winners (The Year Of Billy Miller, The Tale of Despereaux), Friction Farm has written songs inspired by several children's books. For each song, they will read a short selection from the book, explain how it inspired the song, and give kids a chance to share their ideas as well!

Brodini Comedy Magic Show

Thursday, June 14, 2018 3:30 p.m.

Magician Graylyn Morris will raise spirits and test kids’ powers of concentration as he manipulates ropes, scarves, balls, and other magician props in a “now you see it, now you don’t” performance!

Outta This World Adventure Story Time for Tweens & Teens

Thursdays, June 14-August 16, 4:30-6:00 p.m.

Think you’re too old for story time? Think again! Kids 11-18 can stay after hours when we break out the snacks, art supplies and fantasy novels to read aloud.

Library Scavenger Hunts

See if you can follow the clues to find fantastical creatures, world leaders, famous buildings and more hiding in the library!

Where’s Gaston?

Weekly, starting June 4, 2018

Gaston, our Summer Reading mascot, has gotten loose in Grand Marais! Fortunately, the children’s librarian is on his tail, but has only managed to snap a few photos. Guess where he’s been from the photo clues, and be entered in a weekly prize drawing.
