People have strong opinions about wolves. That's why there is great interest by the National Park Service to bring wolves to Isle Royale National Park.

Wolves have almost disappeared on the island in Lake Superior, which is just off Minnesota's North Shore. Because of this, the moose population is exploding. The park service hopes new wolves will restore the natural balance.

The only other place where wolves have been reintroduced by humans is Yellowstone National Park. The National Park Service began reintroducing the animal to the park in 1995.

Today, wolf biologists call Yellowstone a wildlife success story.

But can it work again on Isle Royale?  5 EYEWITNESS NEWS traveled out west to find out. See the natural wonders of America's first national park. Meet the Minnesotans doing ground-breaking wolf research. And find out why their work is important to the future of Isle Royale National Park.
